The G. Gordon Gritty Band - the longest running live manifestation of Gritty's ramshackle - took to Pink Noise studios in January 2020 with the mission of laying down all the tracks they could in case they might not be able to ride again. So in a half day the group cranked out this album - no overdubs or tricks.

As anyone who has seen them can testify, Gritty live shows are unpredictable, chaotic. It's all a rough mix. Here, though, there was some balance and equity as captured by engineer Dan Thorn. The drum 'n bass of Kyle and Dan is the motorik of the band, always providing a firm blanket of rhyme, reason, structure - opening up Gritty to do whatever Gritty wants. The crusty noise of >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> aka Brian is a zesty seasoning of heaps of feedback & layered noise improvisations from homemade pedals.

Sometimes live you'll see Gritty abruptly end a song after a minute or two or he'll stop playing and the band will keep going, but mostly here the songs flew until they could not, sometimes resulting in dirges of five plus minutes. There was a synthesizer handy to keep Gritty busy while the rest of the band explored their own improvisations. And that is at the heart of Gritty and Band - there's always a song to start - at least - but the rest is up for grabs.

Sort of like: Thee Oh Sees in 2011 but only if it was Dwyer's first band
